New global framework for decarbonizing heavy industries

Under COVID-19 economic recovery plans, policymakers have designed a global framework for decarbonizing heavy industries. Global Heavy Industrial Decarbonization principles are countersign and validated by numerous civil society groups and industrial businesses. Decarbonization refers to the reduction of carbon and the long-term goal of establishing a CO?-free global economy.

?Industrial decarbonization holds similar factors of implementing sustainable improvements in the existing industrial processes to induce fewer carbon emissions. This will not only reduce the carbon level in our environment but will also fabricate increased long-term gains. There are various ways of decarbonizing, such as:

?

●??????By increasing the electrification of the Industrial sector.

●??????Manipulating pipeline gas for production.

The new Global Framework includes six core principles that are required to ensure a progressive rise in the decarbonization of steel, cement, chemicals, and other confiscated heavy industries. The whole plan is set up on the carbon-reducing strategies for promoting the use of fossil fuels in industrial processes. Basically, the priority to invest in low or zero-carbon technologies has increased, providing surety of sustainable development and industrial decarbonization.

?Tata Steel, an esteemed organization with a history of acquiring foreign companies, has announced its inclusion in the network of heavy industries and civil society grounds, promoting a global framework for decarbonizing heavy industries under the COVID-19 economic recovery plan.

?The Climate Group, an international non-profit organization along with campaign organization Mighty Earth, are the architects of the Global Framework Principles for the proper conduct of Decarbonisation of Heavy Industry. This event was the first time when global organizations worried about the excess climate deterioration caused by the increasing carbon level in the environment.

?Decreasing the carbon footprint of heavy industries is mandatory labor for stabling climate change below 2?°C. Along with global experts, the governments of various nations are engaging their focus on economic recovery while keeping the standards of decarbonization as their priority. Industrial emissions are stated as the hazards for sustainable development for which it is the collective responsibility of the entire world and working social groups to better the environment in a stable position.

?According to a study, in 2017, the emission level of heavy industries was more than GHG emissions than agriculture, transportation, etc. Moreover, due to the various technological and industrial advancements, the emission level has increased simultaneously. Therefore, experts and scientists have declared the mandate factor that reaching net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 has become an essential requirement for avoiding such devastating effects on the environment and climate changes.

?The industrial sector includes the production of wide categories such as cement, chemicals, aluminum, paper, packaging, food processing, etc. With such a vast level of manufacturing and emitting harmful substances, it has become important to substitute the materials from non-organic to organic for conserving the environment.
