New Generation Servo Take Out Arm
The Lattimer Servo Take Out Arm has been designed to address some of the issues experience by users of standard arms.
All of the new Lattimer Servo Take Out Arms have cases and covers manufactured from aluminium billet, hugely reducing the lead time to manufacture. The new range of arms are constructed to be as maintenance friendly as all Lattimer arms, all wear parts are easily replaceable.
Taper roller bearings have been used to ensure the drive shaft is held rigidly in the casing preventing any lateral movement of the shaft that could result in failure. A combination of needle and roller bearings provide additional support for all rotating parts and guarantee smooth, precise operation.
The Taper Roller Bearings are assembled opposing each other and are mounted in a removable and if required exchangeable Bearing Housing.
During operation there is a significant axial load generated by the offset load of the tong head, holders and containers. This load effectively pulls the Take Out Arm body from the shaft. The provision of the Taper Roller bearings (as per wheel bearings on a car) are able to absorb this load, ensuring that the arm rotates freely and does not move from side to side in operation. This prevention of movement on the shaft therefore maintains the axis of the input shaft at right angles to the pulley. This ensures that the movement of the Tong head and container pick up is and remains in the vertical plane, essential for trouble free pick up and placement of the glass containers.

The Arm is also Fitted with a mechanical stop to enable a speedy resetting of the machine following a collision. The mechanical stop is also easily replaceable meaning it can be replaced without causing damage to the cover.
New generation arms also have the facility to check the belt tension without requiring any dismantling of the case and cover.
All new Lattimer Servo arms now utilise 97% of the same internal components across sizes (4-1/4'',5'', 5-1/2'' and 6-1/4'') reducing the number of part numbers that need to be held in stock.
