New GenAI-Powered Cybersecurity from Balbix

Today, commercial cybersecurity vendor Balbix announced a new cyber risk and exposure management capability called BIX AI Assistant. The new solution leverages conversational AI to simplify tasks involved in managing the day-to-day cybersecurity risks that have become such a challenge for enterprise security teams.

At TAG, we receive requests from customers every day on how to streamline the tools, integrations, dashboards, and reports they use to identify vulnerabilities, understand threats, analyze attack paths, and evaluate the impact on business operations. The volume of data that must be processed makes prioritization, action, and communication especially tough.

Increasingly, our recommendation to address this challenge involves selection of a suitable automated assistant, preferably one that leverages artificial intelligence (AI). We were therefore pleased to see the announcement and introduction of BIX. Some of the features in this solution that we found of particular interest include the following:

Personalization: BIX tailors its language, detail level, recommendations, and interactions based on the user's role, preferences, and past conversations. For instance, if you want to know in monetary terms the business implications of a vulnerability such as the MOVEit transfer vulnerability, then BIX will help.

Context Awareness: Certainly, Google and ChatGPT are useful for generic context, but the BIX solution integrates with your actual systems to understand your assets, applications, software versions, users, and their roles within your organization. This is the power of an AI assistant, because it can leverage this contextual knowledge to recommended meaningful action.

Mobile Experience: We see that BIX is also available for use on a smartphone. We are always surprised when this obvious need for security operations teams is overlooked. Mobile access shortens decision-making by eliminating the need to sit down and log into multiple dashboards and tools.

Our general observation is that Balbix's new AI assistant can improve your understanding of material risks as well as operational efficiency, speeding up response times. This benefits both organizations new to security and those with established, large teams. We suspect this could be helpful in dealing with stringent Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations as well.

For those interested the details, BIX utilizes the familiar use of RAG-based Large Language Models (LLMs) running on specialized NVIDIA hardware. The multi-agent architecture of BIX enables it to decompose problems into subtasks handled by specialized agents, ensuring a safe, accurate, and extensible approach to cybersecurity investigation and task automation.
