New FY ahead
As many folk are probably experiencing, aside from COVID and lockdown, it's a crazy time at the moment - it's End-Of-Financial-Year next week. July 1st, new FY.
EOFY is always a crazy time - many of my clients are needing to get work finished and budgets consumed, or projects ready to 'go live'.
We used to call this time of year 'The Harvest', when all consultants were busy and flat-out - during Q4.
Also - needing to plan for budgets/goal setting for the coming year - next FY 2020-21.
It's hard to look ahead - this time LAST year, we couldn't have predicted a global pandemic, and loss of lives, jobs, political upheaval, and a general feeling of "uncertainty" in personal lives and business. Economic uncertainty is a real worry.
This is surely a unique period of our generation.
So - it's no wonder that I (and many others) are feeling distressed and need clarity. It was nice to hear that I'm not alone, after a lunch with a colleague - I thought *I* was the only one who's head was playing tricks - cabin fever, groundhog day, etc.
Having said that - it's often a great line-in-the-sand to start a new period - all of those folk with New Years resolutions - for January 1st.
Some feeling of empowerment, with a new beginning. Realistically - those changes or perspectives can occur on ANY day.
So today - I'm enjoying plans for positive change, and a new outlook for the new FY.
Working with great clients and colleagues - with some great technologies.
I'd like to complete a few more Microsoft certifications over the next few months, if there's a let-up in work. I've realised how much I enjoy the learning process - and there's a wealth of great training material from Microsoft.
I'll be looking deeper into the Power Platform - PowerApps, and so forth - and some Dynamics 365 perhaps - as well as SharePoint, Office 365 - and Azure Development.
What about you ?
How do you *feel* at the moment ?
What's driving you forward - for FY 2021 ?

4 年Hi Chris, you were always very keen on learning, it is great to see you are still the same. Yes indeed, there is so much to learn and explore even for an old man like me, Happy Friday
