New Funding, Farmer Success, and Equitable Outcomes

New Funding, Farmer Success, and Equitable Outcomes

Hello Friends of the Earth,

More than halfway into 2024, Boomitra is proud of what we can show for it: more projects, more funding, more growers, more partners, and, of course, more healthy soil. ??

In this month’s newsletter, explore how Boomitra prioritizes farmers, ranchers, and equity, discover the success stories of two participating farmers in India, and find a time to meet our team at NY Climate Week.?

Let’s dig in!

Boomitra secures investment from Global Innovation Fund?

Global Innovation Fund (GIF) is an initiative supported by government and private donors dedicated to supporting innovations that have a measurable impact on the lives of those living on less than $5 per day. ?

Earlier this month, GIF invested in Boomitra, reflecting the value of our work in the Global South. We’re dedicated to bringing regenerative agriculture to growers across the world, unlocking carbon finance, climate resiliency, and food system security.?

Boomitra ensures equitable outcomes for people and the planet?

In 2016, Aadith Moorthy saw how farmers suffered from failed monsoon rains. Aadith founded Boomitra to address the twin crises of climate change and farmer wellbeing.

We work hard to include marginalized growers in carbon markets and ensure that all stakeholders benefit. After all, sustainability isn’t a zero-sum game. Boomitra’s third-party validated soil carbon projects demonstrate that everyone can benefit from ecosystem restoration and climate mitigation—from local communities and landowners to project partners and credit buyers.

Hear from farmers enrolled in our URVARA India Carbon Farming Project?

As part of our URVARA project, 12,171 farmers steward 450,000 acres of farmland across 5 states in India. Hear from two of them.??

Third-generation farmer Basavaraj Horatti has seen drastic changes in his crops since switching from conventional to regenerative practices. Now, this is a vocation he’d be happy for his daughter to take on: “Farming is a passion for me. If my daughter Chaitanya grows up to nurture the same love for farming, I will make sure I support her.” ?

After being trained by our partner organization, Gurunath Gire?started making his own organic solutions in place of expensive chemical fertilizers. His soils have softened and his yields have increased. Other farmers seek his guidance, in search of similar results. “My land is number one now,” Gurunath says.?

Join Boomitra at New York Climate Week?

Next month, Boomitra’s team will convene in New York to promote climate action and collaboration. ?

We’ll be sharing our insights at several events. Follow us on LinkedIn to learn about them.
