Experts on the topic of inclusion have guided us all the way and special thanks go to Anise Waljee and Amy Collins for their many insights and suggestions as we wrestled with this complex theme.

So complex in fact that the story published today is the THIRD iteration! We are incredibly proud that we took the difficult, long route and very many more months than we expected to tackle and get as ‘right’ as we could. There are so many issues faced by so many and these need to be treated carefully and sensitively. Ultimately, we want our story books to be inspiring and useful and make an impact on the lives of child readers, their families and the educators who use them.?

After very many consultations and discussions, we decided that the main themes were of empathy and putting the locus of control of the action into the hands of children who can easily be overlooked or even excluded.?

This was the first time we worked with Kay King as the main author and it was a real joy. A specialist in working with children with extra needs, she was incredibly patient and flexible with the process. Thanks Kay!
