The New Flavor Buyer

The New Flavor Buyer

Last week after a day that started with Diana screaming bloody murder first thing in the morning at the sight of her very first NYC roach, Juniper having a meltdown playing a matching game, and a full day of calls....I was ready for a

TREAT.?

So I fired up the ol' phone and went to Grubhub and found a place that had Italian ices and all kinds of drinks that were expertly mixed with said ices.?

There were many choices and types of combinations but I eventually landed on a Peanut Butter shake that was fantastic and made the day a bit more bearable.?

When I was done ordering I shared with Norah that I'd likely be going back there and she laughed in her knowing way and said,?

"Got a new obsession?"?

If you're just getting to know me and haven't been reading my content too long, you may not know that I am a really big fan of trying all kinds of different flavors of things.

?I try the new coffees, the specialty items at restaurants, and even ridiculous concoctions at the grocery store in search of a flavor profile that will absolutely wow me.?

And I spend more money than I should.?

So why confess this??

Because I'm not the only one.?

There is a whole base of clients out there who are "new flavor" buyers like me.?

People who want to try different things and explore all kinds of service offerings.?

The question is...Do you have anything for them?

?Even if you have a tried and true offer, a little shift in it could end up attracting a new audience and if you get that "flavor" right, they might just buy it every day until it becomes discontinued.?

I may or may not speak from experience.

?Cough Cough. Blueberry Cobbler Iced Coffee from Dunkin ;)

So over to you.?

What new "flavor" could you add to the menu for your buyers??

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to look at that menu again.?

Love the metaphor, Michael Roderick! Similarly, I always talk about giving people a "little pink spoon" taste of what you do...so they will keep coming back for a cone, a pint, or even a gallon! https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/little-pink-spoon-approach-job-interviewing-how-give-em-todd-cherches/?trackingId=y%2BpbN2RFQhuc2xpKGSWewQ%3D%3D

Well, I'm definitely hungry and thirsty and craving all this good stuff, Michael Roderick. It is crucial to keep things fresh - and this was entertaining and thought provoking. My new flavor in the past year or so has been podcasters - so many people have wanted to start a podcast, and it makes me grateful I dove into that space :)

No wonder we get along, Michael - another "cut from the same cloth" moment. My biggest weakness on this was (when I still drank it) craft beer. Every single permutation possible, if done well, went across my palate. In our business, we have been testing some new approaches - not really "flavors" in the traditional sense, but a change of pace, for sure. Thanks for the thought starter!
