New findings and more to find…
I have been focussing again on the write up.? Not of the results, but of the introduction to the topic.? And of course, things move on.? More research has become available, and it is important to include these new findings.?
Important for a couple of reasons.?
One, it is building more evidence around coaching.?
Two, the papers are calling for further investigation into the very topic I am researching, giving even more justification for the project.?
For example, these two papers released this year.
The first one to catch my eye, is a paper issued in June, which explored a coaching intervention delivered to six executives with subordinate well-being measured before and after.? It suggested that that although there was no overall significant improvements observed in subordinates’ well-being there were significant improvements found in workplace well-being among older employees and social well-being among hybrid workers.? However causal factors for these changes could not be identified so could not definitively conclude that a ripple effect occurred.? This demonstrates the difficulty of measuring the impact of ‘real world’ coaching within complex organisational structures, adding to the discussion around the need for more research into the impact of systemic coaching to validate executive coaching as a value-enhancing intervention that can deliver organisational-wide benefits. This was taken from the abstract of the paper titled 'The ripple effect of executive coaching on employee wellbeing'.
And in February a study in Norway investigating the influence of an evidence-based coaching intervention on students’ well-being generated results indicating that coaching has a positive effect on students’ emotional well-being.? It goes on to state that coaching could be of interest to vocational education in the Nordic countries, especially now that students’ well-being in school has become more important since the pandemic. This paper was titled 'Effects of coaching on wellbeing, perception of inclusion, and study-interest'.
Back to my own study. There are now only 17 surveys left to complete, with the final survey scheduled for 13th November 2024.? It feels surreal to be able to see a data collection end date. And my patience is tested again!
Next phase is to plan time to analyse, review and write up. Given the season we will be in here in the UK, settling myself up by a log fire over winter seems like a comforting way to enjoy the process.
