New Fee Update for Emirates ID Card for South Asians - April 2024

Welcome to the latest edition of the N7 Real Estate Newsletter. In this update, we're addressing the expatriate community from Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh residing in the UAE regarding the new fee structure for the issuance of Emirates ID cards, effective from April 2024. This card is vital for accessing numerous government services and maintaining legal residency status within the country.

Mandatory Emirates ID for All Residents

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it is mandatory for both citizens and expatriates, including those from Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, to obtain an Emirates ID card from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP). This ID is essential as it enables access to various government services. Lack of an Emirates ID can result in legal consequences.

Application Procedure

To apply for a new Emirates ID card, individuals must visit either the ICP or an accredited typing center. Applicants will also need to visit one of the ICP’s service centers to provide biometric details as part of the application process.

Required Documents

The documents required for the Emirates ID application include:

  • A valid passport.
  • A valid residence permit, a permit under renewal, or a new permit if an ID was not issued with the initial residence permit.
  • A personal photo (4.5 x 3.5 cm) with a white background.
  • An original birth certificate, a passport of one parent, or an Emirates ID for applicants under 15.
  • An agency certificate if the application is submitted by someone other than the applicant.

For Bangladeshi expatriates, additional documents may include:

  • Original birth certificate, passport of one of the parents or Emirates ID for those under 15 years old.

Updated Fee Structure

The updated fee structure for obtaining an Emirates ID for Pakistani, Indian, and Bangladeshi nationals includes:

  • AED 100: Card issuance fee (valid for five years).
  • AED 150: Service fee.
  • AED 30: Typing center fee.
  • AED 150: Fee for urgent services at customer happiness centers.

This revised fee schedule is part of the UAE's continued efforts to streamline administrative services for all residents, ensuring they can continue to enjoy their rights and access essential services seamlessly.
