The New EU Data Protection Regulation - What it means for market, opinion, and social research
Delighted to be sharing the publication on Research World Connect of my article on the EU Data Protection Regulation. My team and I have been looking over the various articles and recitals finally adopted from the perspective of a market research agency.
There is a lot to celebrate, from the simplification of registration requirements for processing, and also the inclusion of market, opinion and social research in recitals defining scientific research and statistical research.
There are things to be extremely careful about ranging from the requirements to have a Data Protection Officer for organisations processing large amounts of data, a 4% Annual Global Turnover maximum fine in the event one violates the EU GDPR, the age of consent ranging from 13 to 16 depending on the country, and a right to object
This is a law that will apply to all actors collecting and use European citizens' data regardless of where you are located. Find out more by reading my analysis on Research World Connect: https://rwconnect.esomar.org/its-here-what-the-new-eu-data-protection-law-means-for-market-research/
