A New Era of Urban Transportation and More

NEOM and Volocopter

NEOM ?and?Volocopter?have established a joint venture to create the world's first bespoke public eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) mobility system in?NEOM, Saudi Arabia.

The joint venture will design, implement, and operate a network of air taxis and vertical logistics services that will connect NEOM's core urban development?THE LINE, reimagined industrial city?OXAGON, and other regional destinations.

The eVTOLs will be powered by 100% renewable energy, making them a zero-emission transportation option.

The project is expected to create thousands of jobs and boost the local economy.

The first test flights of the eVTOLs have already been conducted, and the system is expected to be operational in NEOM by 2025.

The joint venture will be owned 50% by NEOM and 50% by Volocopter.

The eVTOLs will be based on Volocopter's VoloCity aircraft, which is a four-seat, fully electric air taxi that can travel up to 27 miles at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour.

The air taxis will be able to operate in both urban and rural areas, and they will be able to fly in all weather conditions.

The eVTOLs will be integrated with NEOM's overall public transportation system, making it easy for passengers to transfer between different modes of transportation.

Dubai Hospitals Conduct Successful Drone Delivery of Medicines to Patients' Homes

Fakheeh University Hospital in Dubai has successfully completed a trial of using a drone to deliver medicines to a patient's home. The drone flew a 10km radius from the healthcare centre to the patient's home at Cedre Villas in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO).

The drone was equipped with a thermal camera and a GPS tracker, which allowed the hospital to track its progress in real time. The drone also had a parachute in case of an emergency.

The trial was a success, and the hospital is now planning to roll out the drone delivery service to more patients. The drone delivery service is expected to reduce the time it takes to deliver medicines to patients, and it will also help to reduce traffic congestion.

Here are some of the key benefits of using drones for medicine delivery:

  • Faster delivery times:?Drones can fly much faster than cars, so they can deliver medicines to patients much faster.
  • Reduced traffic congestion:?Drones do not use roads, so they can help to reduce traffic congestion.
  • Improved access to healthcare:?Drones can deliver medicines to patients in remote areas, where it may be difficult to get to by car.
  • Environmentally friendly:?Drones are powered by electricity, so they are a more environmentally friendly way to deliver medicines.
