If you haven't caught up with trade news yet this week then we suggest you do so now. It has been a big week for travel with The Travel Corporation being picked up by private equity firm Apollo Global Management, Inc.
As one of the industry's largest travel companies, industry followers will be watching to see what this means for TTC's staff as well as the industry as a whole. Having been run by the Tollman family for no fewer than 104 years this is certainly a new era for TTC.

Meanwhile, Flight bookings to Bali are up a huge 45 per cent year-on-year, new data from Webjet shows.
Not everyone is feeling the love for Bali, however, older Aussies seem to be slowly falling out of love with destination, says the data, with over 55s accounting for just 22 per cent of bookings this busy season – down from 37 per cent last year.
Meanwhile, a popular rural Japanese travel destination is no longer accepting bookings from travel agents as it deals with overwhelming demand.
In correspondence seen by Travel Weekly, Kumano Travel says it is closing its doors to B2B business as it is unable to meet the demand.
And luxury is coming to Brisbane with the opening of the Luxurious five-star The Star Grand Brisbane. The resort has officially opened hotel bookings for stays from 29 August 2024.
And Helloworld Travel has entered into a new partnership with Canadian-based travel consortium Ensemble which will cover the Australian and New Zealand markets.
All agents in Helloworld’s Branded and Associate network – Helloworld Business Travel, Magellan, Alatus, My Travel Group, MTA, Express Travel Group and First Travel Group – will have access to the program effective 1 August 2024.
1000 Mile Travel Group (1000MTG) has launched a new self-branded option for Australian travel agencies.
