New England HV transmission line contract awarded to Avangrid

Avangrid, a subsidiary of Spanish utility Iberdrola, has won a US$950m (￡676m) contract to build the only transmission project in New England, US, to supply electric power to the state of Massachusetts.
The New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) project includes a 145-mile high-voltage direct current transmission line connecting New England’s power grid with the grid in Québec, Canada.
Avangrid’s proposal was selected from a total of 46 submitted to meet the Massachusetts Green Communities Act Section 83D Request for Proposals initiative.
