New Dynamics in the Soluble Fibers Market
Based on the Food and Health Survey conducted by the International Food Information Council (IFIC) in 2021, it was found that more than 56% of consumers have attempted to include or enhance their intake of dietary fiber. While most consumers (92%) prefer obtaining fiber from food sources, one out of every five individuals still resort to using fiber supplements to supplement their diet. Regulatory approval for inulin, FOS and soluble corn fiber has encouraged manufacturers to use these ingredients in existing and new product formulations. Manufacturers now claim the following benefits on the ingredient label - enriched with fiber, fibers added, and rich in fiber. High traction around clean-label food, functional food products, and plant-based and sustainable food products will also likely make fibers a key ingredient in the food industry in the coming years.
