New Do Workshop. A Newsletter for Growth.

Never Underestimate What Actually Works.

Email isn’t cool.

There are no launch parties for newsletters.

It doesn’t make the news with its billion-dollar valuations like the newer social media platforms in Silicon Valley do.

Wired don’t write about them. Nor do Fast Company.

But here’s a truth when Wired are launching, when Fast Company are launching, how do they do choose how to do it?

Yup.

You know the answer.

If you really want to grow your business, email is still number one.

“Email is the Jason Bourne of the internet. Everyone tries to kill it but they can’t.” — Unknown

Algorithms change. Platforms shut down. But email just keeps working.

So, how can we get good at it?

This workshop will help you grow.

The fastest way we’ve found to grow your community, even if you’re starting from scratch. And oh, everyone has to start there.

How to launch a product.

The maths behind the metrics.

The handful of things you need to do to consistently grow your community.

The single strategy that has helped us grow our community more than anything else.

How to build engagement.

The automated emails that will do the heavy lifting for you.

The metrics that matter, and how you can influence them.

How to build the foundations of the community to build trust.

How to leverage social media to grow your community.

How to grow your community using paid advertising.

How to build a viral referral marketing campaign.

The must-have email capturing software.

The essential tools for growing your community and launching products.

How to keep your community engaged.

How your community can help build your next products.

Hiut Principles for Growth.

 1, Listen.

2, Know why.

3, People have no time. Be excellent. Be useful. Ideally, be both.

4, Build community. In short, give.

5, Methods can change. Principles do not.

6, Build the best company for the planet. For the town. For the team.

“As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Methods for Growth.

It’s important to know the tools for growth. And then learn how to master them.

1, How to launch?

2, How to grow the community?

3, How to understand the metrics?

4, How to increase engagement?

5, How social media and newsletters can help each other to grow?

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” Bruce Lee.

Build Your Community:

To build a community you have to show you can listen. This is the biggest mistake that most companies make. Get over this: It’s not all about you. What? Yeah, I know. Hard huh. But that’s the thing, you have to be listening. There has to be a dialogue, not just a monologue.

If you can think of a newsletter as the start of a conversation, then you will understand the importance of engaging with your community. Their engagement starts with yours.

The best companies have ears, not just a mouth.

Learn How to Launch:

This is an art. There is so much to share here.

Over the last few months, we have learnt from the best: Jeff Walker. We have learnt all about the ‘Sideways Newsletter’. How to produce Pre Launch Content (PLC) and how to use video to help you to grow. And, indeed, how the launch actually grows your community. We could spend the entire day just on this. So much gold to share.

How to Understand the Metrics:

One thing that holds people back is that they are scared to go and spend money. That is because they don’t understand the metrics. The classic mistake is spending too much. But the other classic mistake, which is more common, is spending too little. Both stem from not having a handle on the key metrics. Once you know them, you can grow because you understand the return on your investment.

How to Increase Engagement:

This something people don’t want to hear. If people aren’t engaged, it’s your fault. Damn.
The law of interesting is simple enough. Do interesting things and interesting things happen. That rule can be applied to newsletters too. So if your audience is not interested in what you are doing, it’s kinda your fault.

It’s because you haven’t connected. It’s because you haven’t dug deep enough. It’s because you haven’t put new ideas across. It’s because you are not doing it in a new way. It’s because you have not thought about your story enough.

So rather than blame your tribe, ask yourself a difficult question: Why am I making this interesting subject so blinking dull?

How Social Media and Newsletters Grow Each Other?

Twitter is a road. Facebook is a road. Instagram is a road. YouTube is a road. Now, if you can think of them this way, think this way. All roads must lead to sign up. Then, you can control the conversation. So how do you do this? What are the techniques? What are the tips?

Who is this for?

Direct to Consumer brands

Marketing Agencies

Startups who are bootstrapping it

Existing brands that want to grow

Lifestyle businesses who want to grow and have a life they most want

Who this is not for?

This workshop is for those who have a newsletter already.

If you’ve never created an email campaign before, this is probably not for you.

Why Attend?

Because you want to grow. And newsletters deliver that. Once you have learnt how.

The knowledge for this workshop has been learnt the hard way. One email at a time. Along the way, tons of mistakes were made, but each one would teach us important lessons. The workshop will share with you the tactics, the strategies, and the habits of some of the best newsletters out there. It will get you to see how newsletters will become your most important sales tool. You will think differently about newsletters after this.

The lessons here can be learnt in one day but can be applied each and every day after that. It is simple things, applied consistently, that produce big change.

“Email is the single best way to communicate with your audience, period. Better than Facebook, better than Twitter, better than ads. Because you own it. Because it is a relationship of mutual trust and opt-ins. That is why you need to build one.” Ryan Holiday

Hi David. I’ve read (and enjoyed) the book. As I’m in NZ and can’t get to the workshop, is there anything you will cover that I wouldn’t get from the book. Thx Steve. (Thx also for your Saturday shares. I look forward to it each week).
