New Division Commander to Speak at Luncheon

In case you missed it, the ceremony for the newest First Infantry Division took place in June.

We are thrilled to announce that new commander, Maj. Gen. Monte Rone, will speak at our monthly Military Relations Committee luncheon, Aug. 7. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton.

?

During this event, he will reflect on his first six weeks in command and share insights from his previous assignments. MG Rone's primary goal, as he will outline, is to take care of soldiers, families, and civilians at the installation.

The Flint Hills community, known for its robust support of Fort Riley, has long recognized the economic and cultural impact the installation has made over the past century. The upcoming luncheon offers a unique opportunity for community members to engage with Maj. Gen. Rone and other new leaders from the installation. This event promises to be a significant occasion for strengthening the bonds between Fort Riley and the surrounding community, reaffirming the shared commitment to mutual support and growth.

Division Colors were passed from Major General John V. Meyer to Major General Monte Rone at a ceremony on June 28, marking the official transfer of command. This ceremony symbolized the beginning of a new chapter for Fort Riley, as Maj. Gen. Rone, with a distinguished career spanning over 34 years, assumed leadership. His extensive experience includes serving in all four infantry divisions within the III Corps, though this is his first assignment at Fort Riley.

In his inaugural speech, MG Rone expressed his enthusiasm for his new post, highlighting the positive reputation of Fort Riley and the Flint Hills region. He repeatedly emphasized, "Fort Riley and the Flint Hills is the best hometown in America."

Join us on Aug. 7, to welcome Maj. Gen. Rone, learn about his vision for the future, and continue the tradition of community and military partnership that makes Fort Riley and Flint Hills truly special.
