New & Disruptive Technologies & Advice you need to know

Here at Focal, we’re trying to extend as much free advice as possible. We research content & technology trends to ensure we’re always on top of this ever-changing industry & share this with you in a short to read format.

1.    Consumers are trusting brand advocates over the brand itself

In regard to content, this is an interesting development. Experts have highlighted more and more that advocates of the brand have greater sway in the business of marketing, think ‘influencers’ as the primary example.

We all know that having a known personality increases sales & brand awareness as much as, if not more so than the best thought out strategy because of their reach and gravitas. However, the influencer role has become a good choice for smaller brands & companies that can’t afford the big names.

When developing a new campaign, bare this in mind. The right influencer promoting your brand can have serious positive impact on your brand & sales, however the wrong one can have equally adverse effects.

2. Rapid innovation in technology & application

We’ve been heavily researching how the largest businesses are keeping up with the constant innovation in the digital sector. How do you approach the use of each new piece of technology and disseminate which will prove to be useful?

We believe this boils down to a method of thinking within the teams and is perhaps something to start using in your business.

We need to start thinking more holistically about technology and look at its wider application rather than how it’ll be used in just our own spaces. By analysing from an entire market perspective, you can start to anticipate how the technology will be applied to an entire market. From this you can start to see its possible impacts on your business and competitors. Could it provide an advantage to you or your competitors?

This holistic viewpoint has hugely helped businesses stay ahead of the curve and get the necessary jump on their competitors.

3. Third and Final: VOICE

You’re most probably aware of this already, but we need to stress this further.

Voice is changing exactly how your business could be searched for. 1/5 of all searches are now being done by voice changing, and it’s clear to see how this impacts searches.

For some more immediate advice, ensure that your key search words include how people would say the request, rather than a simple type search. Typing ‘Coffee near me’ can now be spoken as ‘where is closest coffee shop?’. A simple change can drastically impact your search criteria and rankings on search engines.

And that’s all from us! Have a great week and look-out for further advice on our social media.

Kind Regards,

Harry Gadsby
