Heads Up – New £200 Million Government Connection Voucher Scheme
Linked to the DIA product launch above, we want to alert you all to the fact The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has just launched a trial in 6 areas, which is part of a £200 million scheme to bring faster Internet connectivity to UK businesses. The scheme is aimed at connections capable of delivering speeds of 1 Gigabit (1,000 Mbps) with a minimum initial speed of 100Mbps. The test project areas will get access to up to £10 million and these are in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, West Sussex, Coventry and Warwickshire, Bristol and Bath & North East Somerset, West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.
Phase 2 will open the scheme to the wider UK and is planned to launch in early 2018. 133 local bodies have submitted proposals for their region so the scheme should cover multiple areas.
Further detail to follow when available.
