New Developments in CALL Customization
Mark Blitz
Project Director for the Comprehensive Assessment of Leadership for Learning (CALL)
As a group of educators who work with other educators, the Comprehensive Assessment of Leadership for Learning (CALL) Team understands how context can vary from school to school, district to district, and region to region. We have already created multiple customized CALL Data Feedback Reports for partners based on particular leadership frameworks and standards, such as our recent alignment to the new Professional Standards for Education Leaders (PSEL).
Now, the CALL Team is expanding our customization work. Recently, we worked with Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) to create new survey questions that capture critical and valuable areas specific to that district. We applied the CALL approach to survey item design and utilized CALL’s Distributed Leadership framework to focus on the work, tasks, and instructional leadership practices that occur in a school. As a result, OUSD is using the CALL survey and data feedback system with their unique survey items embedded in the CALL platform.
The CALL Team is also creating shortened, more direct surveys derived from the full comprehensive survey. Our partners can identify their key focus areas in their schools, and we will be able to provide them with customized surveys based on those focus areas.
