Today, 23 December 2024, the new Regulation (EU) 2024/3234 of the Parliament and the Council has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. It will enter into force on the third day following its publication.
- EU Deforestation Regulation shall apply from 30 December 2025
- The list of the countries or parts thereof, that present a low or high risk shall be published by means of implementing acts to be adopted in accordance with the examination procedure referred to in Article 36(2), no later than 30 June 2025
- Regulation (EU) No 995/2010 (EU Timber Regulation) is repealed with effect from 30 December 2025 (specificities for goods produced before 29 June 2023 and placed on the market from 30 December 2025)
- EU Deforestation Regularion shall apply from 30 June 2026 for companies established as micro-undertakings or small undertakings pursuant to Article 3(1) or (2) of Directive 2013/34/EU. (Exception as regards the products covered in the Annex to Regulation (EU) No 995/2010, for operators that by 31 December 2020 were established as micro-undertakings or small undertakings)
