THE NEW COMMAND TEAM OF THE HARLEM HELLFIGHTERS

The historic Harlem Hellfighters have a new command team after the changes of command and responsibility ceremonies were conducted at Camp Smith Training Site, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., Oct. 22, 2023.

New York Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Joseph Biehler, commander of the 53rd Troop Command, presided over the ceremonies and expressed his thanks to the outgoing command team, and his confidence in the incoming command team’s ability to carry forward the great legacy left behind them.

Col. Seth Morgulas passed command of the 369th Sustainment Brigade to Col. Patrick Clare and Command Sgt. Maj. Curtis Moss conveyed responsibility to Command Sgt. Maj. Leylan Jones during their respective ceremonies.

The 369th Sustainment Brigade recently returned from deployment to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve. The brigade provided mission command and conducted sustainment operations across 29 locations and 11 countries throughout U.S. Central Command’s areas of responsibility. The brigade conducts numerous civil support operations throughout the USA, primarily in its home state of New York.

The outgoing command team deployed together almost 20 years ago, and this ceremony marked the end of an era for both. They took their opportunities to thank their families, recognize all those with whom they worked over the years, and express how much of an honor it had been in every assignment.

The incoming senior enlisted advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. Jones, said that seeing Soldiers achieve their full potential is what keeps his fire burning and that he looks forward to working with Col. Clare.

The incoming commander, Col. Clare, took the opportunity to thank his family and senior leadership for having faith in him and expressed how much he looked forward to leading the brigade into a new chapter in its history.
