Citroen’s new quirky crossover is on sale now! The?new Citroen C5 X?is expected to rival the likes of the Skoda Superb Estate and?Kia Stonic. With prices starting from £26,490, will this become Citroen’s flagship or is the competition stronger? Let’s take a look at the main highlights of the new Citroen C5 X.
Citroen C5 X Interior, Design & Features
The new Citroen C5 X offers the raised driving position of an SUV, along with the style of a saloon and practicality of an estate car. Externally, this Citroen car has a distinctive design that is likely to split opinion. Meanwhile, we think the Citroen C5 X interior is well organised thanks to the practical layout. This family car has a modern interior and the upholstered seats allow for a comfortable journey. We also like the infotainment system which is easy to use. With the entry-level ‘Sense Plus’ model, you get a 10" infotainment system which incorporates the sat nav, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity and DAB radio. Alternatively, upgrade to the ‘Shine’ or ‘Shine Plus’ models for a bigger 12" infotainment system, as well as head-up display.
The Citroen C5 X interior has ample storage space, as well as decent 545-litre boot space (reduced to 485 litres for the PHEV version). Although this doesn’t match the Skoda Superb Estate’s impressive boot size, it should still be sufficient for many families. Size wise, the new Citroen C5 X is 4805mm long, 1865mm wide and 1485mm tall. Compared to the brand’s C5 Aircross model, this is around 300mm longer in length.
Citroen C5 X Price, Specifications & Warranty
The new Citroen C5 X is available in three trim levels – Sense Plus, Shine and Shine Plus. The entry-level Sense Plus trim starts from £26,970, which is similarly priced to the?Citroen C5 Aircross?SUV. Key standard features on the Sense Plus include front & rear parking sensors, 19'' Aero-X alloys and a 10" central touch screen. We feel this Citroen car comes well-equipped for an enjoyable drive. Although, if you upgrade to the C5 X Shine trim level, pricing starts from £28,470. This features a bigger touch screen and wireless smartphone charging. Alternatively, as the top-spec level, the Shine Plus trim starts from £30,460 and comes with a 360° camera, keyless entry and automatic dual zone air-con. Of course, when considering the Citroen C5 X price, you also need to factor in whether you’re opting for a pure petrol or plug-in hybrid version.
As the standard Citroen UK New Vehicle Warranty,?the Citroen C5 X?comes with a three-year/60,000 miles warranty (whichever occurs first) for peace of mind. This is great to have, although other cars offer longer warranties e.g. the Kia Stonic gets seven years cover. With a Citroen C5 X lease, there's the option to add a maintenance contract for an additional fixed monthly fee.?Click here?to find out more. As a brand,?Citroen?has a strong focus on producing reliable and comfortable vehicles.

Citroen C5 X Engines & Performance
Let’s also review the performance of the?Citroen C5 X. This Citroen car has a selection of either 1.2 or 1.6-litre petrol engines or a plug-in hybrid version. As the flagship model, the C5 X plug-in hybrid is fairly economical, offering the benefit of electric driving for shorter journeys, meanwhile the efficient petrol engine is ideal for longer trips. . This allows it to deliver excellent driving dynamics, whilst also lowering running costs and contributing to lower CO? emissions.
If you’d prefer a petrol version, take a look at the entry-level Puretech 130 petrol. It’s claimed to return 41-48mpg and is the cheapest to insure. Although, if you’d prefer a bigger engine, the 180PS 1.6-litre petrol still manages up to 44mpg. This is able to achieve a 0-62mph time of 8.8 seconds and has a top speed of 143mph. Plus, it has a max. towing weight of 1,600kg (braked). Currently, the new Citroen C5 X isn’t available as a pure electric version which might disappoint some customers. However, if you’d prefer a fully?electric car, then the Citroen e-C4 is definitely worth looking at. The Citroen e-C4 has an electric range up to 219 miles (WLTP) and offers a distinctive design. Plus,?leasing an electric car?is not only great for the environment, but it’s also great for your wallet too.
