New Cisco Validated Design - “Cisco HyperFlex Edge Protection with Veeam”
Cisco has just release a new Cisco Validated Design (CVD) for Cisco HyperFlex Edge Protection with Veeam Availability Suite. This solution protects HyperFlex Edge, a relatively new version of Cisco’s hyperconverged infrastructure designed specifically for edge environments like remote or branch offices. One of the great features is that it requires very little local resources to deploy and configure as it leverages Cisco’s Intersight web management platform. Just plug it into power and network and intersight can do the rest remotely. This CVD documents how customers can deploy Veeam Availability Suite to provide reliable and fast backup, restore and replication of applications and VMs residing on multisite Cisco HyperFlex Edge Clusters.
The solution extends across the following use cases:
- HyperFlex clusters deployed across data centers and protected locally at each location.
- HyperFlex clusters deployed in multiple locations and backed up locally with backup copy jobs executed between locations for further resiliency.
- Replication of applications and VMs deployed on HyperFlex Edge clusters to HyperFlex clusters deployed in the primary Data Center for disaster recovery
The solution highlights the benefits of Veeam’s native snapshot integration with HyperFlex and some of the truly unique features Veeam can bring to Hyperflex customers like:
- Granular recovery of VMs and files
- Ability to automatically verify every backup, VM and replica
- Instant VM recovery through backups located in primary and HyperFlex Edge sites.
- Multiple backup end points such as tape drives, cloud or local repository
This CVD covers deployment and design considerations for protection of application data and VMs with Veeam.
