New ChPP Routes & Pathways
APM have recently announced there will be changes to the ChPP application Routes with effect from September 2024. The changes include a new 'Pathway' for people who have gained the PMI Project Management Professional certification and for the first time the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) can be used to support a ChPP application. Both the PMP & PMQ are now Recognised Assessments for ChPP applications. Commenting on the recognition of both qualifications, Chief Executive of APM, Professor Adam Boddison OBE, said: “Seeing both the APM Project Management Qualification and PMP now affording project, programme and portfolio (P3M) professionals equal opportunities towards ChPP status is an important milestone". The full article can be found on the APM website.
There will be further details announced in July 2024 as to how you can use the APM PMQ to support a ChPP submission and the revised Pathways (currently know as Routes) will be formally launched in September. Candidates wishing to use the PMP or PMQ to support their ChPP applications will be able to do so from November 2024. APM have released a Q&A document which can be found on the Chartered pages of their website.

Watch this space, as I will provide further details as and when APM release information. The key aspect of this announcement is that previous professional experience will be recognised by APM and thus the interview for the new Pathway will only include an assessment of Technical Knowledge (theory) and validation of ethics, compliance & professionalism. However, applications will still need to contain evidence of Professional Practice.
If you have gained the PMP or PMQ and are considering applying for ChPP this year, then it is worth checking the APM website on a regular basis for further updates. Or simply follow me on LinkedIn as I will be providing further articles on ChPP and updating those I have already written!
