NEW! ChatGPT Memory Tips and Tricks

Just started using ChatGPT's memory feature—here's what surprised me the most!

First, here is the official information from OpenAI on the new feature

Tips and Tricks

The easiest way to have it add something to its memory is to ask it to "remember."

You: Remember that I like cake.

Once you have some memories stored, you can see all of them by asking it to list them.

You: List all of your memories.

GPT:
1. You like cake.

You can even get a list of the memories from a specific date.

You: List all of your memories from April 24 2024

GPT:
1. You like cake.
2. You like fish.
3. You like cars.

You can also delete specific memories by referencing them directly or selecting them from a list.

You: List all of your memories from April 24 2024

GPT:
1. You like cake.
2. You like fish.
3. You like cars.

You: Delete number 1 and 3.

GPT: I've removed the memories about you liking cake and cars.

You can specify the way that you want to interact with the memory. For example, if you want to define a shortcut like /s to save information to memory.

You: When I type /s save the text following the /s into your memory.

GPT:
Understood! When you type "/s" followed by some text, you'd like me to save the text that follows into memory. Just type "/s" and then your message, and I'll handle it from there! If there's anything specific you want me to remember or any details you'd like to add, just let me know.

You: /s I have a cat

GPT:
Got it! I've saved that you have a cat. If there's anything more you'd like to share about your cat, feel free to let me know!

I hope these ideas got you thinking about how you could interact with the memory in ChatGPT. As I come up with more, I will add them here.

Nice tips and tricks for Memory Brian Caudill. Curious to see how it plays out from me for normal usage. I'm worried memory could negatively influence normal business requests. We'll see!

Have you tried to save into a format such as yaml, json or just simple array? /s array[x] = text to save into array item x. Then try For x = odd numbers Do Recall array [x] Change array[x] to upper case Next x Output array[1 to end]
