+ New Chat: How OpenAI can benefit State and Local Government
Last week, 微软 announced the third phase of a multiyear partnership with the research and development company OpenAI , and I can’t help but imagine the possibilities!
This partnership places an important bet on making cutting-edge AI technology more accessible to businesses and people, so of course, I have to ask myself: what might this mean for state and local government?
Allow me to dream a not so far-fetched reality…
We’re talking about considerable potential for agencies to accelerate their digital transformation journey through automated processes, improved decision-making through predictive analytics and making precise personalized experience offerings for citizens and agency employees alike.
Open AI API. OpenAI’s GPT-3 language models are trained on understanding and generating both natural and code language to perform a variety of complex and mundane tasks from creating code to converting movie titles into emojis. By integrating this model into various Microsoft products and services, state and local governments would be able to streamline and improve countless processes and services, all in record time.
Azure Open AI Service. Today, Azure is the only global public cloud offering with massive scale capabilities. It also ranks in the top 15 of the TOP500 supercomputers. In this collaboration, Azure leverages OpenAI’s models to build applications and customize them to specific scenarios. For state and local government this could mean optimized internal operations such as smart procurement and contract management, electronic document management and chatbots for customer service, to name a few.
AI Research. Another important aspect of this partnership is that it will help advance AI research. Microsoft and OpenAI will work together to continue improving the GPT-3 model, as well as developing new AI models and technologies. This will be an important step in advancing the field of AI and making it more effective and useful for a wide range of applications.
Overall, the partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI has the potential to significantly enhance state and local government operations to further advance digital transformation milestones and improve the lives of citizens. Integrating advanced AI technology in state and local government would help create a more efficient, effective, and responsive government for everyone.
It can also do the same for individuals, of course. Have you had the chance to play with ChatGPT yet? It’s fascinating.
Someone on my team predicted that social media might be dead soon because we will be spending our “free time” prompting AI instead of doing the old online scrolling.
I kind of want to believe them. This blog was 25% written by ChatGPT. ??

1 年Some amazing technology; however, I am not convinced it is ready for prime time application. In my personal life, any interaction I have had with a chat bot (i.e., eCommerce site, ISP, etc.) has been unhelpful if not infuriating when all you really want to speak to a live assistance to troubleshoot your issue. ChatGPT is a whole new level of AI, which I have not interacted with yet so this may be a different experience. The statement of IA’s use for “smart procurement” also gives me pause. This sounds like a euphemism for saying “AI will access your budget and buy things for you automatically”. The backend intelligence in the government space had better be right before AI takes over purchases with tax dollars.

1 年Great post! Coupled with Speech, we will see some incredible opportunities. I just put out this demo using GPT3 and Microsoft Azure Cognitive Speech. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAoNbuuTDpA
Thanks for sharing yours and ChatGPT's thoughts! Well done. No doubt this will have a huge impact.
Definitely sounds like a terrific opportunity & I would be curious to learn what my old chums at Washington Technology Solutions (WaTech) have in mind for WA State Agencies! :-)
