new chapters, new places, new souls
After 17 years outside of the UK, in July I moved back to my homeland in Scotland. How would I describe what I am feeling?
'leaving Houston is bitter sweet'
?
The lone star state and Houston has a very special place in my heart for many reasons.
It was where;
???????I was given the opportunity to return to work after my career pause to raise 3 kids (thanks #bp for giving me the chance)
???Where I made the pivot from upstream to renewables
???Visited my first ever wind farm
???Attended my inaugural rodeo
???Access to world class medical and therapeutic services
???Phenomenal teachers and ultimately a place that accepted my neurodiverse son for who he is so he can succeed
?Houston has had a profound and positive impact. I am going to find it difficult to let go (including right hand turns on red.....)
?
And yet, I have returned to a place where I came from, to a sense of belonging.?To a very different Aberdeen. I am discovering a new Scotland, visiting places I ordinarily would never have gone and seen when I was in my early 20's. These hidden gems.
I have arrived at a critical point in Scotland's energy transition, where Aberdeen's own pivot to renewables is taking shape and in a way reinvention much like #bp. How would I describe what I am feeling?
'excited to be part of this revolution and transformation in Aberdeen'

Good luck! After living overseas for 15 years myself I can relate. However, there is no place like home.
