The recently published 9th edition of the Handbook of Pharmaceutical Excipients contains a large amount of new content. In addition to new and updated monographs, there are several new "chapters" that address topical issues related to the use of excipients. In a recent 'white paper' editor David Goldfarb provides a historical perspective on the development and publication of these short informational articles for the practicing pharmaceutical formulator.
