A New Chapter for Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors with LaTanya Mapp Frett

This week on The Caring Economy, we’re joined by a true trailblazer— Latanya Mapp , the new President and CEO of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and author of The Everyday Feminist. Her story is one of resilience, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to creating meaningful change in communities around the globe.

Her journey, which began in inner-city Philadelphia, has taken her from working with the UN in post-apartheid South Africa to leading grassroots women’s movements worldwide. Now, at the helm of RPA, LaTanya is rethinking philanthropy—not as a transaction, but as a transformative force. She believes in the power of collaboration and bold ideas, creating space for innovation and connection to tackle the world’s most complex challenges.

In this episode, LaTanya shares what it means to truly listen and understand the people and communities we aim to support. She calls for a shift in philanthropy—one that trusts the everyday leaders already making change happen and removes barriers that keep them from thriving. Her words challenge us to think bigger about impact and more deeply about the values that guide our work.

I had a listen over my lunch break! LaTanya is truly a resilient individual and speaks with true authenticity. She brought in a great perspective and insight into the advocation of philanthropy. The United States has a long history of philanthropy and has impacted the US in a positive way. Many public libraries were created or donated from wealthy individuals. With the incoming administration and the goal to cut government spending. I believe it is even more important to bridge the gaps in government spending.
