A New Chapter

Earlier today, the company announced my decision to retire this summer. After more than three decades with FedEx, I assure you this was not an easy decision for me to make. In fact, it is one that I have been contemplating carefully for some time.

There are so many reasons I have considered staying. The growth of our business is beyond exciting. The opportunities to be a game-changer in our industry are boundless. The FedEx team that I’ve had the great privilege of knowing is nothing short of astounding.

Yet, the time has come. Just as FedEx Ground is embarking on a transformational journey that propels it to new heights of success in e-commerce, so too must I turn the page and start a new chapter in my life. My wife and I look forward to watching more sunrises over coffee together, spending time with our children and their families, and traveling to both new and familiar places around the world (eventually).

FedEx Ground will be in highly capable hands with my friend John Smith, current President and CEO of FedEx Freight, at the helm. He will join FedEx Ground this spring, giving the company several months of transition as he learns more about FedEx Ground’s business and meets the amazing team.

And what a team it is! I take great pride not only in everything that FedEx has achieved over the past 35 years, but in what its team members accomplish each and every day. It has been a tremendous honor to be a part of it.
