A new chapter with a great purpose.

"To accelerate the transition to a decentralised and zero-emissions energy system"

This is the purpose of Gridcognition, a simulation software platform (or "digital twin") that helps to plan, optimize and track the technical and commercial performance of decentralized energy projects. Gridcognition's founders are Fabian Le Gay Brereton and Pete Tickler, who also founded Greensense, a data analytics and energy and resource management software, acquired by ERM in 2016. I'm very excited to join them, and a team of very smart people, in the new role of Chief Revenue Officer to drive the global growth of the business.

Investing with confidence requires excellent modeling

To give a little context; there's a significant move to distributed energy resources (small smart machines like local batteries, solar and more) and away from the traditional centralized energy generation such as gas and coal power plants (big dumb machines). But with many variables to consider, making "bankable" investment decisions on these projects requires a significant level of analysis before you execute, so you get the best commercial and environmental outcomes. That's where Gridcognition comes in.

A great motivator

There's no question that solving a big problem is a great reason to get out of bed in the morning. I think it's fair to say that the energy transition we're going through is just that. I'm excited to work with the team to get this solution in the hands of people around the world who are currently planning and building the future of energy, as quickly as possible.
