New Calls to Support Innovation in Europe
Welcome to the Chips Pulse! In this edition, explore the recent updates about our Calls and read the latest news about the Chips JU and its funded projects.?
Last week, the Chips JU launched two new calls to support semiconductor research in Europe: a Call for Competence Centres and a Coordination and Support Action to Support the European Network of Chips Competence Centres. In July, the Chips JU is expected to open a Call for a Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) pilot line, with an investment of 180M€, and an additional Call for a Design Platform is foreseen in August, with a funding of 25M€.?
The Chips Joint Undertaking has launched two calls for Competence Centres in semiconductors:
?Competence Centres (DIGITAL-Chips-2024-SG-CCC-1): This call will select the Competence Centres that have been designated/pre-selected by different Member States at the national level.
?Support to the European Network of Chips Competence Centres (DIGITAL-Chips-2024-CSA-CCC-2): This call will select a Coordination and Support Action to build a network of Chips Competence Centres, maximising collaboration between existing European points of semiconductor knowledge and expertise.
Application deadline: 2 October.

As part of its portfolio, the Chips JU programme has assumed a strategic approach towards consolidated RISC-V R&I efforts across Europe, pursuing the challenges outlined in interlinked roadmaps, proposed by on-purpose established working groups of prominent academic and industrial leaders in processor design.
Dr. Georgi Kuzmanov, Chips JU Programme Officer, presented the Chips JU vision, actions and challenges in RISC-V during the RISC-V Summit Europe 2024.
