Our professional and personal lives overtly revolve around cups of caffeine.
Although a great way to instantly boost productivity and break the ice with colleagues, we need to be mindful of our caffeine consumption patterns. It might be impractical to completely and instantly eliminate caffeine from our diets but we need to allow ourselves and our bodies to pause, take a break and replenish, naturally.??
Brief, week-long caffeine cleanses are a great way to get started! Recently our team went caffeine-free for a week. We observed how our minds and bodies reacted, witnessed withdrawal symptoms, discovered caffeine alternatives and savoured No. 3 Clive Road's Herbal Tea Blends! Initially challenging, our team completed the cleanse without compromising their performance at work. Here’s a recap of our week.
Day 1, Monday – Chamomile Tea, to the rescue!
Over the weekend we prepared ourselves for the week-long cleanse that lay ahead of us. Mondays at the Clive HQ, usually start with a morning meeting over a cup of our Single-Origin Black Tea Blends. This particular Monday, we switched to Chamomile Tea. A calming herbal blend was a great way to get started. It kept the deprivation anxiety at bay, right before the withdrawal symptoms started to reveal themselves!
Day 2, Tuesday – Chrysanthemum Tea, with a side of withdrawal!
Lethargy, headaches and difficulty with concentration are some of the withdrawal symptoms our team witnessed experienced on this day. We craved the taste of our morning Masala Chai. Surprisingly, we also experienced sugar cravings as most of us were deprived of our sweet morning brew.
The Chrysanthemum Blend was a convenient rescue. A rare, light-bodied tea with floral undertones was the most suitable selection for a mid-week replenish! In order to combat the sugar cravings, we added a generous drizzle of our Wildflower Honey to our cups.
Day 3 – Rejuvenating with the traditions of Ayurveda!
The Ayurvedic Blend made for a trusted selection for day three. This herbal, caffeine-free tea, infused with the rich traditions of ancient science, served us with earthy and smoky flavour notes with every sip. Making it a great mid-week pick-me-up!?

Day 5, Thursday – We tried something new!
Despite having an exciting range of caffeine-free, herbal teas at our disposal, our team craved the rich flavours of our single-origin tea blends. However, in the spirit of change, we continued with our cleanse by sipping Olive Leaf Tea! A celebration of peace and renewed beginnings, our hand-blended tea made for a mellow herbal infusion and the perfect caffeine-free digestive. Here's some collective Advice from Clive –
If you plan to eliminate caffeine from your diet, start slow! Begin by setting a caffeine stop time and preponing this every day. We suggest pausing all caffeine consumption by 5 PM to expeience a difference in your sleep.”
Day 5, Friday – A toast with Olive Tea!
By now, we had pulled through the week proactively and productively, without sneaking in a caffeine cheat. A reason to celebrate! We experimented in our pantry and cracked the recipe for the perfect caffeine-free cooler - Tea & Tonic! We brewed our Olive Leaf Tea over ice and topped it up with tonic water. We ended the cleanse by savouring the caffeine-free celebratory cooler!
Our bodies felt lighter, while our minds were clearer! We recommend for everyone to take up the challenge to go caffeine free for a week and experience a fresh way of living.
