New buildings on the island of V?N ??N, Vietnam
“Very early in my life it was too late.”
― Marguerite Duras, The Lover
This is a project for a large urban settlement to be built on the island of V?N ??N, Vietnam. The island is inserted in the wonderful context of H? Long Bay and enjoys a unique natural landscape .
The project was born from the desire to recreate an atmosphere similar to that of the French coast's commercial avenues , especially in places such as Nice or Cannes. In addition, Vietnam is a former French colony and retains countless French Indochina buildings. The Indochina style is a combination of French elements and local Vietnamese architecture.
My aim is to reproduce the beauty of those avenues from the last century. For this reason I choose an architecture that revisits the past in a modern key. The use of colors to differentiate buildings is a tribute to the Vietnamese tradition and its past.
All buildings have large glazed surfaces and balconies in order to allow a view of the bay. The accommodations are mainly second homes or hotels. The ground floor of the whole street will be for commercial use.
These are some of the principles on which my project is based:
1. HANOI WAS ONCE KNOWN AS THE PARIS OF THE ORIENT.
2. THE PROJECT SHOULD BE RELATED WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE PLACE.
3. THE INDOCHINE STYLE, OFTEN IS A FUSION OF VIETNAMESE AND FRENCH STYLES.
4. FUSION OF NOSTALGIC ASIAN VIBES AND ARCHETYPAL FRENCH ROMANTICISM.
5. LOOKING FOR THE DEEP ROOTS OF VIETNAM LONG AND VARIED HISTORY.
