New Board Member Spotlight: Welcoming Shirley X. Moore

Meet Shirley X. Moore , CEO of Be Moore Interpreting, LLC , and one of Social Enterprise Greenhouse ’s newest board members! As an entrepreneur who launched her business with SEG’s support, Shirley’s deep connection to SEG and her wealth of experience make her a perfect addition to our board. Her skills and passion for empowering others will undoubtedly enhance SEG’s mission and she is ready to jump in and help.

Shirley’s Entrepreneurial Journey

In 2016, Shirley launched her business Be Moore Interpreting right out of the Social Enterprise Greenhouse coworking space. Juggling a full-time job, school, parenting a toddler, and pastoring, she exemplifies the determination of SEG entrepreneurs working to create their own success.

“Launching Be Moore Interpreting with just $50 a month and having a business address at SEG—though a seemingly simple thing—was incredibly impactful,” Shirley shared. “Having an actual office space meant we weren’t receiving correspondence at home or meeting with potential clients and team members in random community spaces. We had a place, and that place was SEG. It gave legitimacy to our small business, and I will forever appreciate that foundation.”

Shirley’s story inspires SEG’s current entrepreneurs, showing what’s possible with determination and the right support.

Shaping SEG’s Inclusive Future: Shirley’s Vision

Over the years, she has facilitated training and provided interpretation services at SEG events. Now, as a board member, she is committed to breaking down barriers for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs, leveraging her expertise to foster inclusivity.?

“Latina entrepreneurs possess an unmatched grit, and I’m excited to bring that perspective to the SEG board,” Shirley shared. Her goal is to ensure SEG offers culturally tailored resources and individualized support that empower entrepreneurs of all backgrounds.

As an experienced facilitator and interpreter, Shirley is uniquely positioned to help SEG create culturally responsive programming. “SEG’s legacy is one of empowerment, and I’m honored to help shape its next chapter—one where every entrepreneur, regardless of their background or challenges, has access to thoughtful, individualized support that meets their unique needs.”
