New Beginnings as Women's Month come to a close

As Women's Month come to a close here are some reflections on new beginnings and more.

March has been beautiful for the women in the orbit of WIN. We are so grateful to those who have been part of it. For this Women’s History Month, we have taken the chance to mobilize and celebrate women of all backgrounds - entrepreneurs, bankers, artists, executives, advocates – members of the WIN community.

On International Women’s Day, under the WIN theme of Inspiring the Future, we held a webinar with women joining from absolutely all over the world. On 17th March we met in Lausanne for an in-person meeting.

We heard some incredible stories. Maggy Barankitse shared how she stood in and for love during the massacres in Burundi years ago, and how she continues to do so in order to sustain her work for refugees in Rwanda in a Village of Hope. She says ‘love is my strategy’, and she proves again and again that it works.

We also heard from some courageous Iranian women including Sanaz Javadi Farahzadi, who reminded us to be courageous and take a stand. Zooming in from Iran, Ziba Khosravi added – let’s also not to judge those who aren’t ready to risk their life for the Women, Life, Freedom movement.?

Karen Tse of International Bridges of Justice shared with us the power of forgiveness towards those who do harm, which ultimately is our path to freedom.

A recurring theme of our work is ‘Being Enough’. It is courageous to embark on a healing journey to let past stories go and uncover a love for yourself. We applaud the people of this community who are doing the inner work, knowing that a conscious inner journey leads to more conscious journeys for our work in the world. You are the pioneers of our time; co-creating the world in new ways. It is exciting, and we encourage everyone to join the journey.

I have noticed again and again that when seemingly radically different humans come together with a common vision, that vision becomes the glue that holds us together. It happened again at our meetings – there was a sense of unity in our diversity, a common dream for a more harmonious world. At the end of these two meetings, we wondered together if in fact, we may be the ones the world has been waiting for.

Yes, we live in a time when women have more experience, knowledge, and skills than ever, and we keep on learning. If done with fear, it is not enough. The message that came out of our gatherings was clear: we are here to bring love. Let’s take a stronger stand for it and amplify its beat.

I am sure you, like me, have experienced that when you do what you love or more precisely, when you put your love into what you do, courage becomes an automatic consequence. It isn’t something you have to search for.

This month, we were also part of the Women’s World Summit Foundation UN Commission on the Status of Women, the CEOforLife forum and a number of other speaking engagements. We were glad to share our voice in these forums.

Having a voice matters and I am so glad WIN is a platform for so many women and the organizations they are part of to share theirs. If we can continue to bring a new consciousness for women and balanced leadership into the boardroom and the very fabric of organizational life, we will be part of a beautiful shift.

From 20th March, we welcomed Spring following the equinox, the new moon, and other astrological, cultural, religious, and natural phenomena. It is magical and we are ready for our new beginning.

Let’s sync with this energy and make space to find possibilities - do some Spring cleaning, whether it is in your desk, your home or your inner life. This is the time for a re-set, to set out on a new journey of growth, guided by nature’s cycle.

Take some time alone this weekend and sense into what this new light wants to reveal. Allow a new dream to come to you. Remember that a new beginning can be in the same job, same marriage, same house and same family. It is the how you do what you do that the new is located. It is not always about doing something new, it is also about doing what you do in a new way, as a new you, with a new consciousness. That’s mastery ladies! Let’s meditate on that today.

Happy Spring. Happy new beginning.

Love and Courage,

Kristin
