It's been a while since I have been thinking of writing. Writing a Book. What ? Hell, yeah!
In the course of meeting a whole multitude of amazing humans in this lifetime, many friends and aquaintances have had a whole lot of expectations from me.
Some said, "Hey, you are in the wrong field, Selling. You should be out there making your own music and you could make tons of great money". Quite a few friends have wanted me to build my own Events Management company. "You could do magical stuff out there, in that space", they have exclaimed. Others have often warned me that I could have done even greater stuff in HR.
The beauty is, no one ever sat me down to ask, what is it that I have always wanted to do. And the answer my friends, is that I love what I do and what I have done all these years. Sell, Sell, Sell... after all, I have no other skill accumulated over all these 3 decades, except selling, Selling and SELLING.
The greatest satisfaction doing all of that SELLING ? Helping customers, solving their business problems !! And now, I wanted to make sure, I could write about all of those experiences and share those amazing moments, some of them, fascinating, gratifying, rewarding, pleasurable and beyond the money, the smile that I have been able to put, on the faces of my customers, most of who have undergone metamorphosis from being Customers to becoming FRIENDS. Friends for life.
Whatever. Coming back to the point. I guess the book thingy, has somehow been eluding me and no surprises, its just not taking off... and its all in my head, and I want to pour it all out for whatever it is worth and even if it reaches a handful of folks who are eager and hungry to learn what it takes, that would make it very fruitful for me in my current journey of life.
I suspect that this Newsletter will perhaps be a good stepping stone before I can author a book. Maybe I won't feel the need anymore, once the creative juices start flowing out here. "But let's start somewhere", I muttered to myself this morning, and here we are. A great start indeed, for I seem to have taken the first step towards meeting my dream goal.

9 个月After I wrote Baseline Selling, I wanted to write the bible of sales management. In 2006, the original idea for my blog, Understanding the Sales Force, was to write a collection of articles that could be curated and edited into a sales management book. But alas, two things happened. First, I never had the time to sit and write for 2-3 hours at a time but I could write a blog article each day for 20 minutes. Second, the Blog took on a life of its own and now, 2,000 articles later, I have zero desire to write a sales management book. Why should I when every article is so accessible to everyone? Nelson, I hope the writing provides as much fulfillment for you as it does for me and good luck with it!
