New Beginnings Series #2: Find a Way, Not an Excuse
This is #2 of our 10 day series on New Beginnings.
I believe in GFS - Geographical Fresh Starts.
They’re a chance to “George Eliot” our life. She said, (yes, George was a woman), “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.”
I’m in a new city and it’s a perfect opportunity to have a fresh start - to be who I used to be and who I want to be.
#1 on my list is to become an athlete again. I was fit for most my life. I swam competitively for my high school and college, was a 4.5 tennis player and worked with Rod Laver on Hilton Head Island, rode horses (even taught the Disney grandchildren how to ride), rafted, hiked, biked Burning Man, put in my 10,000 steps most days, and even organized running groups in Wash DC that met on the Smithsonian Mall.
However, I’ve spent years as a sedentary desk potato, and after six months of COVID-19 quarantine, I am seriously out of shape.
However, I just discovered Steiner‘s Ranch has a masters swim team that meets three mornings a week at 5:30 AM.
Hmmm. I no longer have constant travel or late nights or any other obligations that would prevent me from doing this.
Repeat after me, “If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. if you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
Thanks Jim Rohn. I'm on it.
