To New Beginnings...

Hello Community! Happy to be back.

As the Convener at Climate Change Writers, I am sending this newsletter with mixed feelings, first with regrets having been away all the while (spanning 16 September 2023 - 18 February 2024), sadly the Climate Change Writers website was maliciously taken down thereby losing some of our community’s work. And yes, happy that we are back again, better and more resolute to create awareness about climate change while championing sustainability. Plus, we recovered much of what we lost and have now taken better precautions.


Our New Drive

As a team, our goal has always been to drive real impact. But we have always admitted that 'impact' has several components to it.

From the onset we had identified what these components should be, however knew we did not have the capacity to drive all of them at the same time. Having gone two (2) years in, we concede that we now are in that position where we can begin our drive to explore these components. It is important to thus present these to our community and the thinking that has led to them.


Well, It goes without saying that climate change has had a huge impact on us all, with no part of the world left out. This as we know has been driven to the most part by human activities. As a team, we thus acknowledge that humans (we as a team, the leadership of Nations, and you the esteemed members of our community) all have a role to play in correcting the ills that have emanated from our collective activities.


As a team, we understand that what we have been doing through Climate Change Writers for the past 2 years which can be described as 'awareness creation' is critical to bringing people across the globe to consciousness as to the impact human activities can and are having on the environment. However, we know that this only solves the challenge in part.


For a holistic solution to climate change, there is the need for a multisectoral approach to the matter - awareness creation being only one component.

  1. As we create awareness, we also have identified the need to MENTOR those who have shown interest in advancing sustainable use of the Earth's resources. Thus a robust mentorship system should be advanced.
  2. It is also instructive that as we continue to nurture a world-view of Sustainability, we are inherently pushing for change. A system where certain existing practices, processes, products, etc are no longer allowed, however, in its stead new sustainable ways to do things are initiated. This thinking will require a new workforce-drive composed of people who have embraced sustainability. Thus we will need to create an environment for people to find jobs and opportunities that support green and eco-friendly practices (or as it were, to provide talents globally to organisations that are driving sustainability).
  3. We will also need to nurture an environment for research, data, and insights. This is inevitable as all of Sustainability must be built on clear and concise insight. This would necessitate an environment where researchers and research collaborators can thrive, this becomes an environment where decision-makers can find real and actionable insights and data to aid decision-making. Thus there needs to be such a platform built.
  4. Because we know that policies are key to the success of climate change and sustainability projects. We are also keen to create an environment where collaboration towards policy incubation becomes possible. We look to champion this too.
  5. We also accept and sustain the argument that sustainable use of the earth’s resources will be achieved when we have thinkers actionably thinking and innovating on tangible and usable products that encourage sustainability. We look to create an environment that brings these thinkers together.


Effectively, beginning from today, we commence a journey that will span the next months. This will be an interesting journey that will push us all to the limits. We will enjoy the journey and so we invite you to join us.

Below, we have outlined a timeline for the establishment of all of the beautiful ideas we have expounded above.


  1. Mentorships Platform - 1st May 2024.
  2. Green Jobs and Opportunities Platform - 1st July 2024.
  3. Policies and Projects Incubation Platform - 1st September 2024.
  4. Founders Platform - 1st January 2025.
  5. Data, Research and Insights Platform- 1st April 2025.


Over the next few months, we will announce a parent advocacy that champions the collective of our efforts.
