A New Beginning

As some of you may be aware, my professional journey has recently taken an unexpected turn due to GE Vernova’s acquisition of Nexus Controls. When I first found out I wasn’t being offered a role in the new organization, I admit it was a bit of a shock. However, I quickly recovered after reminding myself about the immense level of talent and years of experience across the team. Everyone was so wonderful to work with, and it has been truly touching to see all the ways they have supported me through this transition. I firmly believe that everyone ended up in the roles that were right for them, and I’m excited to discover what the universe has in store for me next. Honestly, it has been a blessing to get this amazing gift of time, a precious resource, and I plan on using it to the fullest!

Reconnecting

My first week off was Thanksgiving. My kids were home from school, and we had family in town, so I took the week to focus on spending quality time with my loved ones. Our local family alone consists of 5 households, all within 1 mile of each other, so there are many people to spend time with, especially around the holidays. I had a great week that was the perfect mix of visiting, catching up on things around the house, and relaxing.

Renewing

The following week was the first full week that I’ve been home without the kids since they were born… and it was amazing! I used a spa gift card that I received for my birthday, which was glorious. I caught up on emails and worked on some logistical items like getting my files and calendar updated on my personal computer. I activated my job placement resources that were part of the package I received from GE. I was also able to look into training and next steps for becoming a grief volunteer, which is something that has been calling to me for some time.

Reflecting

Over these first couple of weeks, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what I loved in my previous role and what I would like to be different in my next role. My main aspiration is a burning desire to contribute to the fight against climate change. I’m looking to find a role that will give me an opportunity to work on sustainable products for a company whose mission is directly related to helping the planet. In addition to that overall goal, I plan to dive into some specific topics I’m interested in such as Gen AI, Product Management, Marketing, Data Science, and of course Sustainability. My objective is to learn as much as I can and be ready to apply this additional knowledge to my next role.
