A new beginning

I'm honored and proud to start today as Head of Customer Unit South East Mediterranean and Country Manager of Ericsson in Italy. It’s exciting to take on this new challenge and build on the recent success of this organization, and return to my home country after an equally great experience in Sweden leading the Business Support Systems and Managed Services IT and Advanced Data Management (ADM) in the past two years.

I was welcomed in the best way, arriving in Rome to see 5G has also landed at Leonardo da Vinci Airport with an incredible demo area developed by TIM and the Ericsson team which I am now part of. It was nice to try it out and experience an immersive tour of Piazza Navona in virtual reality!

With 5G now a reality, it’s hard not to be excited about leading an organization responsible for business across 15 countries in the South East Mediterranean area and working with pioneering customers on their own journey to success. Here we can leverage on the many great assets we have in this geography, among them a strong R&D presence in Italy, a Global Service Center for Managed Services Networks and IT in Romania, and there is also the recently announced intention to acquire Kathrein business in Romania that will boost our antenna and filter production capabilities.

I’m looking forward to working with our customers and to shape the future of our industry together. According to our latest 5G Consumer Potential report, early adopters expect 5G to offer a step change in network performance and expect most use cases to go mainstream within 2 to 3 years of 5G's launch. Ericsson is playing a pivotal role in the advancement of 5G technology
