New Beer's Resolutions!

New Beer's Resolutions!

Now that the clock has struck midnight and we raised our glasses to bid farewell to 2024, it’s the perfect time to think about fresh starts and bold resolutions for 2025.

Everything is fine in moderation, but if you’re looking to cut back on the booze in 2025, you’re in luck—alcohol-free beer is now big business.

In recent years, non-alcoholic beer has seen a meteoric rise, with sales skyrocketing as consumers seek healthier alternatives that don’t compromise on taste. Behind every bottle is a story of innovation—from advanced brewing techniques to patented processes that remove alcohol while preserving flavour.

Take, for example, the growing number of patents for vacuum distillation, reverse osmosis, and biological fermentation. These cutting-edge technologies enable brewers to craft non-alcoholic beers that are every bit as complex and satisfying as their alcoholic counterparts. It’s a reminder that starting fresh doesn’t mean starting from scratch—it means refining and improving what already exists.

If your Christmas was anything like ours, you've likely had your fill of reheated leftovers, and the mere mention of 'cold turkey'—in any sense—might send a shiver down your spine. So if you're not ready to go completely "lead-free" straight away, there’s a creative alternative you might want to try...

We recently came across a great post by Billy Wright @ DECEM Drinks highlighting an Evening Standard article about 'Semi-skimmed Guinness: https://lnkd.in/eY-Pgc_V

The idea? Equal parts Guinness and Guinness's non-alcoholic offering: Guinness 0.0 combined to create a pint with just 2.1% ABV.

Naturally, we had to try it at our office Christmas party, and it didn’t disappoint. As Billy says, it combines the moreishness and creamy mouthfeel of the original with a lighter touch—something that’s often missing in a full pint of Guinness 0.0. This off-menu adaptation is a nod to the growing demand for mid-strength options, showing just how far drinkers are willing to experiment for the perfect balance.

Interestingly, Billy points out that back in the '90s, Diageo trialled a similar pint. No need for new product development this time around—it’s a simple and delicious tweak for today’s more mindful consumer.

The New Year is all about setting goals and making promises, and at Patently, we’re no different. In 2025, we’re committed to continuing our tradition of innovation and growth.

Here’s what’s on our horizon:

Handling patents even better while you figure out how to make penguins fly!

That's right, we're going to keep doing what we do best (inventing for patents) so you can keep doing what you do best... changing the world!

2024 has been a year of breakthroughs, and we’re raising a glass (whatever’s in it) to 2025 for even more. Here’s to innovation, growth, and the possibilities ahead.

Happy New Year from the Patently team!
