New Aria Recording! "Mon Coeur s'ouvre a ta voix"
So today I'm doing a double post because I've got a LOT to share from last week. This latest aria "Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix" from the opera Samson et Dalila is one of my absolute favorite ones that I have recorded so far. Truth be told, I didn't think that I would be able to sing this while studying in school because it is out of my traditional vocal range, being a mezzo-soprano piece. But thankfully, recording an aria is much different than having to project mid notes live, and technology had given me an opportunity to create my own interpretations of some really beautiful peices.
"Mon coeur souvre a ta voix" is a song of love, from the opera Samson et Dalila in three acts and four scenes by Camille Saint-Sa?ns and is based on the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah found in Chapter 16 of the Book of Judges in the Old Testament. The jist of lyrics are as follows:
My heart opens to your voice
Like the flowers open
To the kisses of the dawn!
But, oh my beloved,
To better dry my tears,
Let your voice speak again!
Tell me that you are returning
To Delilah forever!
Repeat to my tenderness
The promises of old times,
Those promises that I loved!
Ah! respond to my tenderness!
Fill me with ecstasy!
My hope is you'll hear the beauty and emotions of the song in this recorded interpretation. You an hear this on Soundcloud, and YouTube. Enjoy!
