New app market forecast & report just published
Omdia’s App Ecosystems Forecast: 2023-28 and accompanying report have just been published. Predicting how things will pan out in the mobile apps market hasn’t been easy given the current uncertainties over how the EU’s new groundbreaking antitrust rules will be implemented. What goes down in Europe these coming months is likely to determine what goes down elsewhere in the world over the coming years.
The forecasts’ three scenarios give different versions of what might happen, based on some of the most likely eventualities. It also includes new segmentation around app store-billed user spend, which is now split into subscription and one-time payments revenue, and around advertising, which is now split into in-app and app-store ad revenue – the latter comprising paid-search and sponsored-app ads placed inside app stores (e.g., Apple Search Ads).
