RIP Google Search


SearchGPT is a search engine developed by OpenAI and launched on July 26, 2024. On October 31st of this year, they provided access to SearchGPT to all ChatGPT Plus and Team users, as well as SearchGPT waitlist users.

SearchGPt combines traditional search engine features with generative pretrained transformers (GPT) to generate responses, including citations to external websites. It is a direct competitor to Perplexity.ai, which is an AI tools specifically designed as a search engine.

While Google remains the king of search, and they incorporate AI generated “overviews”, the release of AI search engines poses the first real threat to Google. Rather than providing links to the sites that (hopefully) give you the answers you are looking for and requiring that you click on those sites, AI search engines attempt to simply provide you directly with the answer without requiring you to visit another site.

How Nao Almost Ruined Our Lives (And Won Our Hearts)


It was a typical Saturday morning when Dad burst through the front door, an oversized box cradled in his arms. His face beamed with excitement, like a kid on Christmas morning.

“I’ve done it!” he shouted, kicking off his shoes. “I’ve brought home the future!”

Mom was wiping the kitchen counter, raising an eyebrow. “This better not be another one of your weird gadgets, Steve. Remember that drone you got stuck in the neighbor’s tree?”

“This is different,” Dad assured her, setting the box down and eagerly tearing it open. “Meet Nao!”

Out popped a small humanoid robot, about two feet tall, with shiny white plastic limbs and LED eyes that flickered to life. Nao waved its hand mechanically. “Hello, I am Nao. How may I assist you today?”
