Hmmm, something looks different here...

Welcome to all the wonderful subscribers of (what was) The DARING Entrepreneur Newsletter.

You might have noticed a change of decor...

...and a change of direction!

As you may know I've recently taken the DARING step to pivot my business and launch my own Research and Knowledge Exchange Consultancy.

Research was my first love, and I spent the best part of 25 years either doing or managing research in one form or another.

Which is why I'm excited to return, and contribute to some of the great conversations that are going on right now.

But don't worry, there's still going to be a powerful emphasis on DARING, on thinking, doing and being differently - just with a new focus!

Why Research?

Research is an exciting space right now.

Yes, there are many challenges - in careers, culture, and costs (to name but a few).

Yet there are also huge opportunities - IF we are willing to challenge old assumptions, let go of old ways of thinking and doing, and open up to new ideas and perspectives.

That is happening. One seismic shift is the proposed shift to assessing People, Culture, and Environment in #REF2029, and increasing the weighting.

The pandemic forced us to create new ways of working, creating change in a matter of months, that were previously thought impossible.

And there are powerful conversations around equality, inclusion, and diversity which could create change at a far greater rate than ever before.

So what will the newsletter be about?

My desire is to create a fun space to play with new ideas, a sandpit to explore new opportunities.

A chance to change the way we think about leadership in research, and to open the door to those who may not have ever thought that leadership was for them.

This will be a safe space to challenge old assumptions, to make the impossible - possible.

I would like this to be a place to experiment and discover a better way of conducting, managing, and supporting research.

And finally, a place to remember and celebrate our very human qualities - the things that make us able to create incredible ideas, and to overcome the old thinking that keeps us firmly on the ground.
