New Adventures!

I started a new job! Yaaaay...

Well, i am super excited to say i started a new job a few weeks ago and i couldn't be more thrilled about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. It’s been a fantastic experience getting acquainted with my new colleagues and adapting to a role that’s quite distinct from my previous role.

You see,In my former job, I served in various roles including construction manager, site engineer, project manager, project coordinator, and program manager within the beverage industry. The invaluable insights and global perspective I gained there have been instrumental in preparing me for lifelong success. This exposure has significantly contributed to my transition as I make my move to the United states. My career has been enriched by working across different countries, engaging with diverse cultures, and collaborating with varied teams.

So far, i have garnered a few tips that has helped me in my journey:

  1. Maintain an upbeat attitude: It might sound like a cliché, but there’s good reason for it. Beginning a new job can be daunting, and it’s even more challenging when you’re in a foreign country. The pressure mounts when people struggle to understand your accent, and there are moments when English seems to vanish especially when it's your second language, leaving you defaulting to your mother tongue( Just kidding, or am I?). Amidst these challenges, it’s important to focus on the positive aspects, such as the chance to grow and learn from new experiences..
  2. Seek feedback: You see, you might be really good at what you do but you must understand that each company operates uniquely. While you learn that and start to integrate your skills and the knowledge you bring with you, make sure to seek feedback from your colleagues and supervisor and be open to it.
  3. Build relationships: Now i have to say this is really hard but i have learnt that you want to make friends with some of your coworkers so that they can give you insider advice on navigating the workplace nuances, you know, the unwritten rules that nobody tells you about, but puts you a step away from creating a conflict?Make friends, acquaintances whichever you wanna call it!
  4. Lastly, Remember you have a life outside your job.. Go live, have fun, make memories, seek joy and peace, love your family and above all, love yourself. Pray always!

Here is to new beginning and the exciting journey ahead!
