Why Take an Advanced Scrum Certification?

As businesses continue to adopt agile methodologies, great Scrum Masters are increasingly in-demand. Many realize that training for this role can result in a rewarding and lucrative career.

Most Scrum Masters start their qualification path with a Certified ScrumMaster? (CSM) class. It’s an excellent way to begin, and we’ve trained more than 14,000 people to take this qualification.

While the CSM class introduces you to agile principles, artifacts, roles and responsibilities, and Scrum meetings, the advanced class develops the skills you need to operate at a much higher level.

As a result, if the marketplace for Certified ScrumMasters seems crowded, the advanced certification can give you the credentials to set you apart.

An A-CSM With Practical, Real Life Results

At Mountain Goat Software, we’re passionate about providing training that works outside the classroom. All of our video courses and certification courses are delivered by trainers with the experience and knowledge to answer real-life questions that go beyond theory.

Our Advanced Certified ScrumMaster is no different, and we’ve developed this class to help you not only get certified, but become a successful and valued ScrumMaster.

In this class, you’ll learn:

Advanced Coaching and Facilitation Skills

It’s often a shock to new Scrum Masters—with fresh knowledge and agile enthusiasm—when they’re faced with resistance and apathy in those first few months or years. What’s even more difficult is when the hidden agendas and politics (present in all organizations) threaten to derail their agile objectives.

In this class, you’ll learn how to identify red flags, avoid common obstacles, and face any conflict calmly. You’ll also learn practical skills to diffuse friction between co-workers, and facilitate meetings that are respectful and productive.

The Ability to Adapt When Things Go Wrong

No agile framework can (or should) tell you exactly what to do in every situation. Every company is unique as is every team and every developer. If you don’t know how to adapt, it can take a lot of trial and error (and painful mistakes) to learn what an experienced Scrum Master knows.

This class shows you how to apply agile methods no matter what happens. We’ve designed the materials based on 20+ years of experience so that you can learn our lessons without going through all the trial and error yourself.

You will always face obstacles as a Scrum Master, but as an Advanced Scrum Master, you’ll still be able to guide the team to their goals.

How to Motivate Any Team (Without Nagging)

If you’ve experienced an eye-roll at your daily stand-up, or struggled to get people to work outside their skillset, getting a team to work together can feel like a monumental task. Some Scrum Masters double down on the rules, others let things slide to keep the team happy.

Neither leads to a high-performing agile team.

With this course you learn how to create better visibility into the work being done, increase accountability so that team members motivate themselves, and increase engagement and commitment to achieving the product vision.

What Are the Requirements to Take this Course?

To take this course, you should already have your Certified ScrumMaster certification as well as experience working as a Scrum Master. This will give you the best level of knowledge to participate well and benefit most from the techniques you’ll learn.

To get your A-CSM certification, you must have the following 3 requirements:

  1. An active CSM certification
  2. 12 months of demonstrated Scrum Master experience within the past 5 years
  3. Participation and completion of the A-CSM course

You don’t need 12 months of experience to take this class, as long as you have 12 months of experience by the time you apply to the Scrum Alliance for your certification.

To maintain your A-CSM, you’ll need to earn Scrum Education Units? and renew your certification every two years. But?when you train with Mountain Goat Software?you’re automatically given access to our Agile Mentors Community which contains enough SEUs to renew your A-CSM.

What’s Included?

The Advanced CSM class includes:

  • 2 days of in-depth and practical training to equip you for real-life challenges
  • Lifetime access to all materials (including recordings of your live sessions)
  • Interactive software designed for each exercise, (with output you can save and access after the class)
  • Certification fee included
  • Free 2 year Scrum Alliance Membership
  • 12 month’s networking and coaching with other Mountain Goat alumni in our popular Agile Mentor’s Community
