New ACSC Cyber security campaign

Last week the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) launched their new cyber security campaign. ANZ bank has an ongoing partnership with the ACSC to promote such important security campaigns. This campaign now runs all year round and is a step change in the way we help educate the Australian public, because unfortunately cybercrime never sleeps.

It has never been more important to simplify and build cybersecurity capability. We have seen the need for this growth in 2020 with a number of large scale cyber incidents and launch of the new Australian Cybersecurity strategy by the Prime Minister.

Appropriately, this month’s campaign theme is ransomware. This is a type of malicious software that makes your computer or its files unavailable unless you pay a fee. Anyone can be the victim of a ransomware attack at any time. We have seen a significant increase in ransomware attacks in Australia.

I encourage everyone to share the resources to help others ‘act now, stay secure’ by accessing the easy-to-follow cyber security advice on www.cyber.gov.au.

You can also learn more about how you can protect yourself, by making a PACT to protect your virtual valuables. See the security centre on our ANZ bank website for details.

I come with real data on how DDoS attackers will take advantage of your vulnerabilities before an attack and not after.
