New for 2017 - I'm launching a cloud course at U of T SCS!

Building insight with industry thought leaders, driving content-centric connections
The new year is almost upon us, and with it, the desire to make changes in our lives, to embrace new challenges or take steps towards personal or professional goals.
Personally, I'm not a fan of making the New Years resolutions that accompany this urge...but like everyone, I look at the next page on the calendar as an invitation to embark on new adventures.
This year, that takes the form of a new partnership with University of Toronto's School of Continuing Education - and you're invited to be part of this new initiative as well!
I have developed a course - Cloud Systems in Practice - that is based on the Best Practices developed by the Toronto Cloud Business Coalition (and captured in the book Building Cloud Value that I co-authored with Mary Allen). People who attend Cloud Systems in Practice will work with fellow learners in small-group case teams; each week, we'll combine content from our research with in-class discussions (including special guests from TCBC) to explore an important cloud business issue; the case teams will then apply insights from the discussion to the requirements of their case organizations and deliver brief presentations, so that the entire class can see how key cloud concepts apply in different professional contexts. By the end of the course, learners will have a strong understanding of the issues that shape cloud strategy, the best practices in developing and applying this strategy, and a framework that they can use to work with their employers or clients in creating a solid, best practice-based cloud roadmap.
The agenda for the 12 session curriculum includes:
- Introduction and first steps in assessing cloud feasibility
- Aligning cloud potential with business and stakeholder requirements
- Planning for the cloud
- Delivering cloud via public, private and hybrid environments
- Cloud skills (plus midterm review: case team presentations)
- Cloud application adoption and enablement
- Governance, risk and compliance (GRC) in the cloud
- Cloud security, privacy and reliability: at the core and from the user in
- Sustainability and the cloud (includes a discussion of Uberization)
- How to build a cloud business in Canada: financing and GTM
- Building on the cloud platform: IoT, analytics and the future
- Final review: case team presentations
Does this sound interesting to you? If so...the course starts on January 25th, 2017, and will meet each Wednesday from 6:30-9:30 (excluding March 1) until April 12th. Ping me if you have any questions. More here! https://learn.utoronto.ca/interactive-course-search#/profile/2856

7 年Great stuff Michael! What sort of an audience are you looking for? I'd be delighted to share this with a few people in my network depending on who you'd like to attract. Is this for a senior manager in IT or in the business area?
